Dr. Sumit

Dr. Sumit is a Consultant with Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals. He has completed his MBBS and Master of Surgery (MS) in Ophthalmology from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, India and was awarded a gold medal as the best outgoing student in his post-graduation examination. He subsequently completed a two-year fellowship in vitreo-retina and uveitis at LVPEI, Hyderabad, India. Later, he served as faculty at LVPEI, GMRV campus, Visakhapatnam, India before moving to pursue research fellowship at Jacobs Retina Center, Shiley Eye Institute, University of California, San Diego, USA.

His main areas of clinical interest include diseases of the macula and newer imaging modalities such as OCT angiography, wide field OCT, FFA and imaging biomarkers for various retinal and choroidal diseases. He has to his credit more than 100 indexed publications in various national and international journals. He is a reviewer for 9 international journals such as Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology, European Journal of Ophthalmology and Scientific Reports.
